• Claimed (from Detroit Red Wings) by St. Louis Blues in National Hockey League Expansion Draft, June 6, 1967.
• Traded by Blues (with Wayne Rivers) to New York Rangers for Camille Henry, Bill Plager and Robbie Irons, June 13, 1968.
• Traded by Rangers (with Sandy Snow) to Phoenix Roadrunners (WHL) for Peter McDuffe, July 3, 1969.

ACCOLADES:

• Named to Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League All-Star First Team, 1965-66.
• Named to Western Hockey League All-Star First Team, 1971-72.
• Named to Western Hockey League All-Star Second Team, 1972-73.

INJURIES:

• Suffered serious whiplash injury in February of 1970, after he stopped at a crosswalk and the car behind him rear-ended him. Caley missed the remainder of the 1970-71 season.

• Don once had a 189-minute shutout streak with the WHL's Phoenix Roadrunners.
• Caley retired at the end of the 1972-73 season in order to become a dentist. He returned the following year and attempted to play and attend school simultaneously, but retired (for good) after seven games with WHL Phoenix.
