WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:

"First-year pro probably wishes he hadn't left school early. Has played reasonably well for AHL's worst team." (Mike Loftus, The Hockey News Future Watch 1998)

"Big and mobile, the second-year pro's record-setting AHL season (18 consecutive wins through March 5) will almost surely earn him a legitimate shot in Boston next season - especially if backup Rob Tallas is lost in the expansion draft. "It looks like he has one all he can down there," [Boston assistant general manager Mike] O'Connell said." (Mike Loftus, The Hockey News Future Watch 1999)

"Grahame's biggest asset is his mobility. Big for a goalie, Grahame has shown remarkable ability to bounce back from a bad game and/or a bad season. He recorded a league-high 31 losses with a weak Providence club in 1997-98 before going 37-9-1 in 1998-99. He has a tendency to allow big rebounds and some bad-angle goals. However, with some fine-tuning, the B's feel Grahame is NHL-bound." (The Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 74)

"Barring a miraculous recovery by injured Byron Dafoe, Grahame will complete this season in Boston. He started there, too, due to Dafoe's contract battles. A third-year pro who will be 25 next season, Grahame has impressed as an aggressive, mobile goalie who uses his size (6-foot-2, 210 pounds) to his advantage. He's an excellent puckhandler, but still needs to work on when to play with it and when to stay in his net." (Mike Loftus, The Hockey News Future Watch 2000)

"Outplayed Byron Dafoe late last year but may have to wait his turn once again." (The Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 47)

"Made a strong impression on the Bruins' brass during Byron Dafoe's absence. Big and mobile, Grahame started off like gangbusters early last year, but was returned to the minors when Dafoe returned to the club. A character guy, Grahame, who was recalled in mid-February, can bounce back from a bad goal or a porous game. Impressed once again down the stretch when the rest of the Bruins had packed it in. Done deal in all likelihood, Grahame has terminated Tallas's stay in Boston. Moreover, numerous observers feel he will soon even push Dafoe for the top job. He would be a much cheaper option." (The Sports Forecaster 2000-01, p. 63)

"Grahame is at a crossroads in his Boston Bruins career. The big netminder got a very late start last season due to a broken ankle. When he did manage to return, Grahame struggled and couldn't hold the fort during Byron Dafoe's absence because of injury. In 10 appearances, the 6-2, 210-pound goalkeeper went 3-4-0 with an ugly 3.57 goals-against average and .867 save percentage. Since his ankle injury was not hockey related, Bruins management lost a degree of respect for Grahame. He will head to training camp in September with loads to prove. Grahame should be the frontrunner to back up Byron Dafoe in Boston this season. However, this may be his last chance." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 65)

"Grahame has firmly established himself as a competent backup. He stepped in whenever the Bruins needed him in 2001-02 and played a stretch of consecutive games. While he still suffers through bouts of inconsistency, Grahame has greatly improved the mental aspect of his game. He also now realizes that his huge frame can be a distinct advantage between the pipes. While he still may be a late bloomer at age 27, Grahame looks the part of a solid No. 2 netminder for many years to come. He stands a good shot at setting a career-high in appearances in 2002-03." (The Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 63)

"With Nikolai Khabibulin now a member of the Blackhawks, the Lightning will likely turn to Grahame as the starter. In a season and a half with Tampa Bay, Grahame challenged Khabibulin for the No. 1 role but a lack of consistency prevented him from supplanting the 'Kabby'. In 2005-06, veteran Sean Burke will challenge Grahame." (The Sports Forecaster 2005-06, p. 101)
