On December 10, 1974, Cesare left the Minnesota - Montreal game after turning a seemingly harmless shot by Murray Wilson into a goal. Maniago slammed his stick on the ice and skated off the ice directly to the North Stars' dressing room, ignoring an attempt by Minnesota coach Jack Gordon to stop him.
On February 27, 1977, Cesare was the goaltender who allowed Stan Mikita's 500th career National Hockey League goal.
