STYLE:
STRENGTHS: Very experienced. Has the ability to play a spectacular game from time to time, and possesses an excellent glove hand.
WEAKNESSES: Not consistent enough to stick as a long-term NHL backup.

"Moss' last name should be Murphy, as in Law. Injuries gave Moss a chance to show his worth last season, but his own injury took it away. "The major reason why Arturs Irbe played 77 games last season was a lack of confidence in Moss, who simply was not ready for a heavy load of important NHL assignments. Since every game the Hurricanes played down the stretch was key to their playoff quest, starting Moss was not an option. Still, the right-handed goaltender has decent potential. Heading into training camp, Moss will once again battle young Jean-Marc Pelletier for the right to sit on the bench for all but 10-15 games with Carolina. Since the team may want to play their goaltender of the future (Pelletier) more often, look for Moss to once again win the second-string battle." (The Sports Forecaster 2001-02, p. 122)
