• Michael made his National Hockey League debut at the St. Pete Times Forum on February 14, 2009, as his Washington Capitals faced the hometown Tampa Bay Lightning. With his parents in the crowd, Neuvirth made a glove save on a first-period breakaway by Vincent Lecavalier, and finished with 31 saves to win in his first NHL start. "What can I say? It's unreal. An unreal feeling right now," Neuvirth said. "I still can't believe that. That was my best feeling ever." The game was also notable for Neuvirth's teammate Mike Green, who set a National Hockey League record for scoring in eight consecutive games as a defenseman.
