Entry in "Inside Sports: Hockey": Backstopped Flyers to consecutive Stanley Cup titles in 1974 and 1975, winning Conn Smythe both years. In 608 regular-season games, posted 55 shutouts and 2.55 GAA.

INJURIES:
- Missed part of season with broken foot, 1972-73.
- Missed most of season following surgery to remove neck disc and bone spur, 1975-76.
- Suffered career-ending eye injury in game against the New York Rangers, February 17, 1979. According to Jay Greenberg's Full Spectrum, the injury occurred "...when Jimmy Watson, attempting to move a Ranger from in front of the goal, accidentally put the blade of his stick through the right eyeslit of Parent's mask, ending No. 1's career."
RECORDS:
- Set National Hockey League records for games started (73) and games won (47) by a goaltender in single season, 1973-74.
- In 1975, Bernie became the sixth National Hockey League goaltender to record four shutouts in one postseason. The Flyers would win their second consecutive Stanley Cup, over Buffalo, this year.
PENALTY SHOTS:

DID YOU KNOW?
- Bernie was not only the first player to jump from the National Hockey League to the fledgeling World Hockey Associaton; he was the first to return to the National league.
- Bernie was the first player in National Hockey League history to repeat as Conn Smythe Trophy winner, 1975.
- On October 11, 1979, Bernie's #1 was retired by the Philadelphia Flyers. Bernie is the first goaltender in the history of the National Hockey League to have his sweater number retired.
