DID YOU KNOW?
- On February 21, 1971, Michel became the first (known) professional hockey goaltender to score a goal, while with the Kansas City Blues of the Central Hockey League.
From The Sporting News (March 6, 1971): "Goalies in the National Hockey League occasionally get credit for an assist, but
none has ever scored a goal in the long history of the league. As far as available records show, it never happened in
the minor leagues either, until Michel Plasse, Kansas City Blues' goalie, did it in a Central Hockey League game against
Oklahoma City February 21. With 55 seconds to play, Oklahoma City took out its goalie and put six attackers on the
ice in an effort to tie the Blues, who were leading, 2-1. Only 44 seconds were left when Plante took a poke at the puck
and sent it downt he ice into the unattended cage at the opposite end of the rink. The puck was presented to the 22-year-old
goalie, who said "I'll keep it forever."
