WHAT OTHERS ARE SAYING:
"Schwab has been a pretty dependable backup, but hasn't shown enough to be
the No. 1 goalie on an NHL team. Has played well in spots. He played more
than any Tampa goalie last season. Schwab is one of six goalies used by
the Lightning last season and now finds himself involved in another
goaltending battle. There's no doubt the Thrashers want
Rhodes to be their No. 1 goalie, but the backup
job is up for grabs between Schwab and Maracle."
(The Sports Forecaster 1999-2000, p. 126)
"Billed as a potential No. 1 goaltender once upon a time, Schwab hasn't lived
up to those towering hopes. Has very limited NHL experience, which won't
help him become a solid backup netminder either." (The Sports Forecaster
2000-01, p. 187)
"When Curtis Joseph broke his hand down the stretch,
the Leafs were expected to go into the tank with Schwab at the helm. Instead,
the journeyman goalkeeper calmly stepped in and restored order. He posted a
record of 8-4-5 in Joseph's absence and finished with the best numbers of his
NHL career." (The Sports Forecaster 2002-03, p. 89)
