INJURIES:
RECORDS:
FIRSTS:
- Ron made his National Hockey League debut on February 2, 1984, in Calgary as the New York Rangers faced the Calgary Flames. Glen Hanlon started the game for the Rangers (with a "bad, bad cold", admitted Hanlon later), and after two periods, the Rangers found themselves down, 6-1, being outshout 37-22. Scott entered the game, and yielded two goals on eight shots in the third period. Eddie Beers and Kent Nilsson were the goal-scorers for Calgary.
PENALTY SHOTS:
DID YOU KNOW?
- Ron was a member of the 1983-84 Tulsa Oilers team that was evicted from their home rink in February of 1984. The Oilers played the
final two months of the season on the road. When the team returned to Tulsa, they skated in a small suburban rink,
but the arena's management forbade them to use pucks, so after a practice of skating drills, coach Tom Webster
would take Ron and John Vanbiesbrouck out into the parking lot and shoot tennis balls
at them to keep their reflexes sharp. Despite all of their troubles, the Oilers managed to win the 1984 Central
Hockey League championship.
