• Matt made his National Hockey League debut on March 7, 2004, at Chicago's United Center as his Blackhawks faced the Edmonton Oilers. Underhill played well, stopping twenty-nine shots as the undermanned Blackhawks forced overtime, but lost the game in the extra session. Jarrett Stoll's fluttering shot forty-four seconds into overtime glanced off Underhill's glove, hit the crossbar and deflected into the net. "It went off his stick funny," Underhill said. "I thought he was going to tee one up. I think it misfired and kind of went back the other way on me. I'd like to lose on a better goal."
